FATAL INJURIES
CAR AND JIGGER COLLIDE NEAROAMARU SECOND MAN NOT HURT (P.A.) OAMARU, September 18. One man was fatally injured and another had a' miraculous escape when a motor-drfven jigger, which was being used for an inspection of the permanent way, came into collision with a motor-car at a railway crossing near Papakaio this morning. The men on the jigger were: — P. J. Hynes, of 30 Torridge street, Oamaru, who suffered injuries from which he died while being taken to the Oamaru Public Hospital. R. M. Weymss, an inspector of permanent way, who was thrown clear by the impact and was not injured. The car was driven by AV. R. Gillett, of Hilderthorpe, who was not hurt.
