CANADIAN STEEL JNDUSTPvY OTTAWA, September 14. Although optimistic statements come from all sides about settlement of the Canadian steel workers’ strike, which began on July 15, it still drags cn, paralysing reconstruction work and setting back by more than three months the production of essential tools and. consumer goods. Many factories have been compelled to close because of the lack of materials, and building is practically at a standstill. The steel workers’ national director (Mr C. H. Millard) has announced that if companies would agree to arbitration it would pave the way for early settlement.
