MANSION DESTROYED
X,S.\V. BUSH FIRES UNDER CONTROL SYDNEY, September 18. Changes of wind, cooler weather and prompt action by fire fighters during the week-end brought most of the bushfires under control, but vigilance is being’maintained as hundreds, of square miles of country are tinder dry. Only substantial rains can remove the danger. The historic Blue Mountains mansion, home of Mr. Sydney N. Stedman of Sweetacres, Limited, was destroyed by fire yesterday. The damage was estimate at over £lO,OOO and included the loss of antique furniture, cut. glass and jewellery.
