INCREASE IN NUMBER SURRENDERED

Coupon saving for Britain showed an all-round increase of nearly 10 per cent, for the last week, 7303 butter and 194,992 meat coupons being received. Gisborne won the district pennant for the week for the fifth time with a -figure that approached the record two months ago. A feature of the week was the high standard of performance of the first six districts on the list,, which were all up to the standard objective of an average of better than one coupon a household a week. The districts were Gisborne, Nelson, Blenheim, Oamaru, Napier, and Timaru, while Palmerston North was very close to them. ■ Fourteen of the 20 districts showed an increase for the week.
