FAMILY ALLOWANCE
ARGUMENT AT WOMEN’S
CONFERENCE
(Rec. 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 6. The Communist delegates at the ■Women’s Charter Conference have opposed a motion recommending that mothers should receive an endowment allowance of 30/- a week. They argued that such an increase would be used as an argument for lowering the basic wage, which would be inadequate, even if the trade unions got the increase of £1 which they were striving for. The motion was returned to the resolution committee for reframing.
