A DRUNKEN ORGY

RUSSIAN TROOPS IN BERLIN HOTEL EVIDENCE AT COURT MARTIAL (Rec. 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, August 5. What one witness called a drunken orgy conducted by Russian troops in a Berlin hotel was described in a court-martial at Gatow of a British aircraftman, Gerald Christopher Ennis for the murder of a Russian sergeant, Ivan Nikolajovitch. One of Enniss’s companions, Qorporal Duttin, said they arrived at the hotel looking for a room and were ordered, rather than requested, to drink by the Russians, who were holding a party in what was called the Red Room. The Russians were drunk and armed and trouble seemed likely. There was much drinking and dancing on the table. Duttin was in bed when he heard shots fired.. He returned to the Red Room where a Russian officer fired at him but missed. The prosecution said the body of the Russian was found in a bathroom with three bullet wounds. Ennis, in a statement, said he fired the fatal shots but claimed that the Russian fired first.
