BIG POWER VETO
ELIM IXATION MOVE BY CUBA NEW YORK, Aug. 3. “Cuba has requested a convocation of the General Assembly to amend the United Nations Charter by the elimination of the Big Power veto and asks that the question should be placed on the agenda for the forthcoming Assembly,” says the New York Times. “The move goes further than the Australian proposal that the veto should be discussed with a view to the formulation of a policy outlining the circumstances under which the veto should be correctly employed.”
