BATTLE WITH ANNAMESE TROOPS (Rec. 11.5,a a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. Heavy losses were suffered by both sides in a nine-hour battle between French and. Annamese troops and irregulars in the streets of Bac Njnh, a village 19 miles north-west of Hanoi, says the Associated Press Hanoi correspondent. The battle began with the ambushing of a French supply convoy en route to Langson. The Annamese captured several lorries, including one containing more than • 1,000,000 piastres destined for the garrison at Langson.
