THE WEATHER Forecast: Fine at First.
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day:— Situation: The anti-cyclone covering New Zealand and centred east oi the Chathams is moving away. Depressions are located near the Kermadecs and Tasmania. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: Moderate north-easterly to northerly winds; weather fine at first, but cloud increasing tomorrow; cold night, with frosts; day temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Occasional rain developing. LOCAL RECORDINGS. 9 a.m.—Barometer, 1019; thermometer, 39; wind, easterly (moderate breeze); sky, blue; river, normal; bar, , moderate swell; rainfall, nil: (The total rainfall to date this .year is 33.28 inches.) The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 19ft 3in.
