BURKE’S CREEK MINERS TO WORK

(0.C.) REEFTON, May 30. The Burke’s Creek Miners’ Union at Reefton has decided to comply with the request from the Mining. Controller (Mr.. C. H. Benney) to work “back” Saturdays in order to help to relieve the coal shortage. The union also decided to work on the King’s Birthday. OBITUARY. The death has occurred at his residence, Devonport,, Auckland, of Mr. William N. Prentice,- aged 65, who was for many years a wellknown Reefton resident. A native of-the West Coast, Mr. Prentice conducted a drapery business in Reefton before his retirement and removal to Auckland 10 years ago. He is survived by his widow and two sons, William (Wellington) and Edward (Auckland). DRAW FOR WOMEN’S GOLF COMPETITION (0.C.) REEFTON, May 30. The Waitahu -(Reefton) Women’s Golf Club will play a sealed hole competition this week-end. The draw is as follows:— Miss Williams v. Miss O’Grady; Mrs. Duff v."
