DEFENCE PLAN
WESTERN HEMISPHERE
WASHINGTON, May 29. The Chief of Staff of.the United States Army (General Dwight Eisenhower) and Admiral Chester Nimitz have appealed to Congress for legislation to permit military and naval collaboration of unprecedented, closeness among the Western Hemisphere countries. It would involve m tactics and training, as distinguished from high policy, a military alliance for peace. . , General Eisenhower and Admiral Nimitz supported the Administration bills which the House Foreign Affairs. Committee is studying and which authorise the United States to transfer warships to other countries and also aim at the standardisation of all the fighting forces of the Americas. Canada is not included in the plan, but could elect to be brought within its scope.
