BRITAIN AND AMERICA
CO-OPFRATIOX OX WORLD UNDERTAKINGS
(Recd. 2 p.m.) LONDON, April 22. “It seems that Britain and America are pre-destined to work together not only' on mutual undertakings, but also on undertakings in association with other members of the United Nations,” said Mr. A. Harriman, addressing a Press conference. This cooperation, would not conflict with the interests of other nations.
Mr. Harriman said he was gratified that the United States was now playing a greater part in the all-important task of attempting to assist the distressed people of the world. Mr. Truman’s measures to help meet the food problem had set an example which would have the lull support of the people of the United States, which was a difficult place in which to introduce rationing. Mr. Harriman added that other peoples did not realise the sacrifices Britishers had made or the degree to which they were carrying on under war-time conditions.
