COLD MORNING
“BARBER" BRINGS LOW TEMPERATURES
FOG IN GREY, VALLEY
Greymouth experienced its sharpest “barber” of the year this morning. The visitation had a pronounced effect on the temperature, which at 9 o’clock was 47 degrees, the second coldest recorded at that hour since last winter. Travellers returning from Christchurch via the Lewis Pass had a foretaste of these conditions early in the morning while on the Reefton Saddle. Heavy fog was encountered in this area, extending’ practically without interruption to Greymouth. Visibility was restricted.
There was a white frost on the roadside near Maruia Springs early this morning.
