DISTURBANCES AT N.S.W. CAMP WARNING NOT HEEDED (Rec. 11.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 18. A Dutch guard shot dead an Indonesian during disturbances at the Netherlands East Indies camp, at Casino in northern New South Wales. Over 300 Indonesians were interned there after refusing work, while waiting for transport to Java. Recently they requested better food and amenities. The demonstration was followed by a serious disturbance, when the internees refused to go to their huts.

A volley was fired over the heads of the demonstrators, but it produced no effect. Another shot killed an Indonesian.
