BALLIN’S BREWERIES, The ninth annual report and statement of accounts of Ballins Breweries (N Z ), Ltd., for the year ending September 30, states that the turnover of the brewery department had continued to increase. The wine ana spirit, cordial, and aerated, water departments, owing to the import restrictions and lack of the necessary 7 raw materials, had. shown a decline in sales, although the demand for these products had greatly exceeded the available supplies. The net profit earned, after deducting all, operating expenses, including depreciation and. after making provision for directors f ees and interest on calls in advance, amounted to £43,609/1/2. After adding the amount brought forward from 1944 (£4587/11/-) and the amount over-estimated for income tax (£672/19/9). and deducting the interim dividend paid to March 31, 1945 (£3502/12/11), the balance available was £45,366/19/-, which the directors recommended should be dealt with as follows:—Provide for taxation, £35,000; provide for payment of dividend of 3 per cent, (making 5 per cent, for the year), £5254 0/2- leaving to be carried forward £5112/18/10. MINING. Grey River Dredging Co., Ltd.— Ciean-up, period November 21 to December 5: 259 hours 30 minutes total time digging: 193,170 cubic yards excavated; 376.55 crude dunces "gold recovered. November totals: 549 hours, 371,343 yards, 959.73 ounces.
