MINING Blackwater Mines’ return for four weeks ending October 12; Crushed 2058 tons yielding 1029 ounces of gold from all sources, the value of which when taking gold at £B/12/3 per fine ounce was £8875. Working expenses not including ordinary or war duty were £6587. Development expenditure was £483 and capital expenditure was £669. Review of development work carried out during the war period:—-No. 15 level drive south was advanced 27 feet on reef averaging 17.32dwts over a width of 42 The work of retimbering the pew lift in the i north shaft between Nos. 15 and 16 I levels was completed and the station I crosscut at No. 16 level was advanced 1 24 feet. Drives north and south on No. 16 level were advanced six and ten feet respectively, in country rock. Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.): — For the week ended October 20, the company’s dredges recovered 1271 ounces from 50,920 yards in 2211 dredging hours. Slab Hut return for the week ended October 19, 1945, was 89 ounces from 22,162 yards in 129 hours. For the week ended October 19, the Clutha River dredge, operating at Alexandra, recovered 170 oz. in 106 hours. .
