SWIMMING
COAST CENTRE MEETING. An appeal for swimmers to come forward and offer their 'assistance to the sport by coaching is to be macle by the West Coast Swimming Centre, which held a meeting at Greymouth on Wednesday evening, Mr. R. K. Holmes presiding. Members pointed out that the present coaches had too much work to do already, and if the Centre was to put into effect its proposals to teach swimming to as many as possible, more experienced swimmers as coaches would be needed. Correspondence concerning the forthcoming N.Z. swimming championships was received, this being mostly in connection with travelling and accommodation arrangements. Remits lor presentation to the Labour Day conference were discussed, and delegates were informed of the Centre’s opinion on certain matters. The N.Z. Centre replied to the protest from the West Coast concerning the length of time between the holding of the .N.Z, championships at Greymouth, stating' that the matter would be discussed at the annual conference. A poker-worked fruit, bowl was received for disposal by the Centre as thought fit, from a swimmer in recognition of coaching given him by the Centre officials.
