BULLER CHAMPIONSHIPS The Buller golf championships took place at Westport during the Labour week-end, being played under good conditions. The large entry included competitors from Greymouth, Christchurch, Nelsen, Hokitika and Reefton. The men’s fourball best ball bogey played on Saturday resulted in a win for H. Hill and L. C. Lindley, Greymouth, who returned a card of 9 up. The medal match played in conjunction with the qualifying round was won by G. G.'Mitchell, Greymouth, (86. 21—6,fi), and the bogey match by J. Brown, who returned a card of two tip. Senior Championship.—Semi-finals: D. Francis defeated Caldwell, 2 and 1; W. Phipps defeated G. Sloe I up." Final: Francis beat Phipps, 3 and 2. Intermediate Championship.— Semi-finals: A. Pain defeated R. Davies, 5 and 4;.C. Petersen defeated H. Lawrence 3 and 2. Final: Petersen defeated Pain, 4 and 3. Junior Championship.—Semi-finals: G. G. M. Mitchell, defeated B. Foster, .1 up; L. C. Lindley defeated F. Beban, 2 and 1. Final: Mitchell defeated Lindley 1 up. Women’s Senior Championship.— Semi-final: Miss H. Risk defeated Miss L. King, 5 and 4; Mrs. Walker defeated Mrs. J. Jones, 2 and 1. Final: Miss Risk defeated Mrs. Walker, 4 and 3.
Junior.—Semi-finals: Mrs. Sharpe defeated Miss B. Yarrall 3 and 2: Miss McKnight defeated IVliss F. I-lay-Mkc-kenzie, 1 up. Final: Mrs. Sharpe defeated Miss McKnight, 3 and 2.
The women’s stroke matches resulted:—
First Competition,' Mrs. Findlay 108, 36—72. Second competition. Mrs. Walker .84, 1 1—73. Junior, Mrs. Ecklund 92. 21—71. The bogey match resulted in a tie among Misses D. Brown, L. King, and H. Risk, who each returned a card of four down.
