WIN FOR BLACKBALL
The Rugby League season on the West Coast concluded at the weekend, when Blackball, the champion team, defeated The Rest by 37 points to 14 on Wingham Park. Blackball opened the scoring with a neat try by J. O’Donnell, which Nuttall failed to convert, and he repeated the performance after The Rest had several times been on the point of scoring. Eventually their account was opened when Watson got across at the corner. Thereafter Blackball pulled away steadily, Mcßride scoring and Mountford converting, while O’Donnell obtained a third try which Mountford converted. The Rest struck back temporarily, J. Forrest scoring and Coll converting, but by half-time Howden had scored for Blackball, giving them a lead of 19 —8. The Rest put up a strong defence in the opening stages of the second half, but Blackball eventually broke through, Jamieson scoring an unconverted try in the corner. Intercepting a passing rush among The Rest P. Mountford claimed the ball, which went to C. Mountford for a good try, which he also converted. The Rest improved their position slightly when J. Forrest obtained an unconverted try, and their final points came when Dunn got across for a good score. Blackball were now leading 27 —14, and their final points were secured when P.
