SWEDEN CLOSES PORTS

LONDON, Sept. 24. The Swedish export of iron ore to Germany will be brought to a standstill and German-Swedish commerce Generally reduced to practically nothing as the result of a Swedish decision to forbid German ships to use Swedish territorial waters and ports along the entire southern and eastern coasts of Sweden from Falsterbo to the Finnish-Swedish border. Reuter’s Stockholm correspondent says: M. Guenther yesterday informed the German Minister, Thornsen, this decision would be effective from next Wednesday. Territorial waters of the west coast already are mined ay™ therefore unusable. The only facility remaining for German ships is the right to call at a few of the west coast ports, such as Togeborg arid Malmo. Even ferry traffic between Trelleborg and Sassnitz will be stopped. The decision is believed to be attributable to a Swedish desire to avoid complications in the event of the Russian fleet breaking out of the Gulf of Finland and sinking German ships in Swedish territorial waters. _____
