QUOITS
A quoiting club was formed at a meeting of about 20 residents of Dunollie this week. Two pitches, one of 11 yards and the other of 15 yards, have been laid, and anothejpitch of 21 yards is being prepared. This sport was popular in the Grey district several years ago, and an effort, is being made to revive it. CRICKET

CHESS WELLINGTON, January 20. The first of three matches between Messrs E. H. Severn and R. G. Wade, both of Wellington, to decide the New Zealand chess championship which commenced on Saturday was completed to-night. The game was won by Wade. The second game will be played on Saturday.
