Mrs J. Atkinson, sent’., left this morning, for Christchurch. Mr J. Aldridge left this morning, on return to Belfast. Mr and Mrs C. Temple left to-day, on return to Wellington. Mr K. McLauchlan will leave tomorrow evening, to enter an Air Force radio training school. Mr and Mrs W. D. Revington will arrive this afternoon, from Christchurch. Mr J. Williams, Preston Road, who has been a patient of the Grey Hospital, has returned home. Mr. Joseph McGrath, Tainui Street, will . return to-day from a visit to Christchurch. Mrs. G. T. Hutchinson, Tainui Street, will return to-day from Christchurch.

Wing Commander E. Caradus, Directoi of Educational Services, Royal New Zealand Air Force, is visiting Greymouth.

The death has occurred of Mr. William Thompson Cook, aged 77, proprietor of the “Rodney and Otamatea Times.”—P.A.

A cablegram from Chicago announced the death suddenly from® heart failure of Dr. Frederick Stock, the noted musical conductor. He was director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and had also achieved distinction as a composer.

The death has occurred at Auckland of Mr. William Satchell, author of the novel “The Greenstone Door.” He was 83 years of age. He wrote prose and verse in England before coming to New Zealand in 1886. “The Greenstone Door” was published in 1914.—P.A.

The death occurred at his residence, Collingwood Street, Nelson, on Monday, of Mr J. H. Pye-Smith, who for many years represented the Bruce Woollen Mills, and was a regular visitor to the West Coast during the past 20 years.
