AIRMAN KILLED

NEW PLYMOUTH TRAGEDY. [per press association.] WELLINGTON, December 6. It was to-day that an airman pilot under training, Leading Aircraftsman Maurice Sydney Best, of Bombay, Auckland, was killed instantly about 11 o’clock this morning, when he was struck by an aircraft approaching the aerodrome at the Air Fprce station at New Plymouth. Best was walking along the boundary of the aerodrome, in company with another airman pilot under training, when an aircraft which had been engaged in training exercises came in at a low altitude. Deceased was apparently struck by a wheel of the aircraft, and was killed instantly. The aircraft was slightly damaged, but neither the occupants nor the companion of deceased were injured. A Court of Inquiry will be held. The next-of-kin is Mrs. A. Best, Bombay, Auckland.
