A London cablegram announced the death of Mr. John Morgan, M.P.

Air Commodore J. H. d’Albiac, Officer Commanding the Royal Air Force in Greece, has been promoted to the rank of Air Vice-Marshal.

Mr. L. F. de Berry, M.A., has been chosen as headmaster of St. Mark’s Church open-air day school Christchurch. He will begin his duties in the first term next year.

Captain Eustace Rotheram, R.N., has been appointed captain in charge and superintendent of His Majesty’s dockyard, Devonport, and Director of Naval Recruiting, according to the Gazette. —Press Assn.

The death has occurred at the Inangahua Hospital, of Mr. John T. Jobling, aged 23, a native of Northumberland, and a Waiuta resident for ten years. Deceased had been in bad health for some time, and is survived bv his parents, and one brother, resident at Waiuta.

A Sydney cablegram announced the death of the Reverend Father Thomas Segrief of the Marist Order, aged 56 years. He was a native of Wellington. Father Segrief sailed as a padre with the First Contingent of New Zealand troops in 1915. He was subsequently a Lecturer at St. Patrick’s College. He was also stationed at Reefton. Later he went to Australia, where he became Rector of St. John’s Marist Agricultural College, Lismore. Guests at Revingtons Hotel include: Mr H. Furneaux, Mr N. Stouppe, Mr R. E. The recent death of Mr. A. C. Russell, an ex-Councillor and Mayor of Greymouth, was referred to by the Mayor (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham), at last evening’s meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council. He said that ,Mr. Russell was a native of the Grey.mouth district. He gained his early training on the Borough Council, and later made a considerable name in local body and commercial affairs in Hawke’s Bay. A motion of sympathy with Mr. Russell’s relations was cartried. The death occurred at Greymouth this morning, of Mr. William Alfred Wallwork, aged 54 years. Deceased had been ailing for the past four months. He was a native of Pendlebury, England, and came to New Zealand 15 years ago. He worked as a miner in the Ten-Mile and James mines, and was mine-manager of the Jubilee mine. He was secretary of the Grey Medical Association, a working foreman of the Greymouth Borough Council, and a district delegate to the General Labourers’ Union. He is survived by his wife, one son (William) and two daughters (Mrs. K. Dash of Christchurch, and Miss Ada Wallwork, Blaketown); also a brother, Mr. George Wallwork (Greymouth). The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon, leaving his late residence, Coffins Street, Blaketown, for the Karoro Cemetery.
