The initial parade of the Greymouth Home Guard was held at the Drill Hall, last evening, and disclosed a rapid increase in enrolments. One hundred and sixty men were on parade, and with subsequent enrolments, the total has reached 180. The men were addressed by the Area Commander, Brigadier-General W. Meldrum, and Colonel C. E. Butcher, and four platoons were formed. Preliminary drill instruction was given by Staff-Sergeant S. Gurden, assisted by Corporal Smith. Colonel Butcher has been appointed a temporary Company Commander, and the following are the platoon commanders: No. 1 Platoon, Mr. J. McArthur; No. 2, Mr. G. G. M. Mitchell; No. 3. Mr. H. Herring; No. 4 (Emergency Precautions Squad), Mr. G. M. Rutter.
