GREY MEN’S MATCHES. The Greymouth Golf Club’s competition matches were continued during the week-end in ideal weather. The second round of the Brown and Walters Cup was won by E. Warnes and S. J. Davis, with a score of 6 up. With one round still to be played, the leaders in the main competition are: —N. B. McCallum and E. N. Taylor 9 up; R. Bagge and R. Stopforth 9 up; F. J. O’Halloran and A. Dowgray 8 up. In the senior championship semifinal, B. W. Caulton defeated P. G. Tizard. Caulton now meets H. W. Dixon in the final. In the junior championship semifinals, H. W. Brown defeated J. Garth, and W. Kane defeated F. G. Wilkins. s ' First round results for the vicecaptaim’s trophy: W. Meldrum defeated W. D. Taylor; E. N. Taylor won from M. J. Lynch by default; E. Warnes won from J. J. Thompson by default. Mr. W. M. Horton, who is travelling the Dominion in connection with greens research work, will arrive in Greymouth on Thursday, September 26, bringing a talkie film relative to various golf matters. Among other interesting matters, golfers will have the opportunity of seeing films of the famous American professional, Johnny Farrell, and the South African, Bobby Locke, who recently toured the Dominion. The showing will take place at Harker’s. No charge will be made for admission, but a collection will be taken up in, aid of the Westland Patriotic Fund.

GREY WOMEN’S MATCHES The draw for the hidden partners match, for Mrs. W. B. Russell’s trophy, resulted in a win for Mrs. W. Meldrum and Miss Lockington. In the medal play-off between Miss A. McKnight and Miss Margaret McDonnell, who tied in the medal round last week, Miss A. McKnight returned the best card, 108-29 —79. The following is the draw for a flag match, for a trophy presented by Mrs. W. Meldrum, to be played in conjunction with the mid-monthly medal, on Wednesday next:— Mrs. Tizard v. Mrs. A. Smith.
