ILLEGALLY ON TRANSPORT
CANCELLED PASS USED [per press association.] WELLINGTON, September 20. Stated by counsel to have been locked up in the ship’s prison, with a bayoneted-guard over him all night, until he was taken to the police station this morning, George > Arthur Farnwortt, civil servant, pleaded guilty to the Magistrate, Mr. Stout, to a breach of the Shipping Emergency Regulations by going on board a transport, some time ago, without a permit. The police said the accused was noticed leaving the ship about 9.45 p.m. Asked to produce his pass, fle refused and gave a false name. Later, he admitted his identity and produced a pass which had been t , cancelled when the ship was last in England. I He was fined £2, with costs. ■
