DRAMA FESTIVAL

HOKITIKA W.E.A. SUCCESSFUL. With seven teams competing, and a good attendance of the public, the Drama Festival, arranged by the Greymouth Women’s Institute and held in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon and evening, proved most successful. A high standard was attained by the competitors, the judge, Mr G. G. M. Mitchell awarding the Silver Challenge Cup to the Hokitika W.E.A. team, with Hokitika W.I. and Greymouth W.I. (2) equal as runners-up. At the conclusion of the festival, ihe visitors were entertained at supper and Mrs E. Parfitt presented the Cup to the winning team and a crystal vase to the runners-up-The various play's presented were as follow: — Hokitika W-E.A.: “When the Whirlwind Blows.” Cast: Mrs A. Perry, Mrs Foster, Mrs R. Millen, 85 marks, 1. Greymouth W.I. (II): “The Happy Ending.” (Producer, Mrs G. Black). Cast: Mrs H. Taylor, Mrs W. Green, Mrs K. Webb, Miss H. Simpson, Mrs G. Black, Mrs T. McLean, 80 marks, equal 2. Hokitika W.1.: “Ladies Only.” (Producer, Mrs S. Bassett). Cast: Mrs F. Turner, Miss E. Dale, Mrs Ashley, Mrs Johnston, Mrs Anderson, Miss Edna Dale, Mrs Lynch, 80 marks, equal, 2. Also competed: Greymouth W.I (I.): “A Deal’ Little Wife.” (Producer, Mrs G. Black). Cast: Mrs A.
