COMPULSORY CONFERENCE
AUSTRALIAN MINING DISPUTE. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Received October 17, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 17. A compulsory conference has been convened by Judge Drake Brockman, of the Commonwealth Arbitration Court, to discuss the threatened strike by engine-drivers in the mining industry. The conference will be held at Newcastle, on Thursday. Until the conference is held, it is considered certain that the men will not give effect to their plans to go on strike.
