U.S. EXPERIMENTS
FIGHTING FOREST FIRES. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] NEW YORK, October 15. The National Forest Service is experimenting in dropping firemen at the scene of newly-discovered forest fires, in suits extraordinarily padded to prevent injury through landing in rough country. The parachutes are designed to permit the fire-fighters to guide themselves to the best landings. A most essential part of the equipment includes a light two-way radio in a smaller parachute.
