BOY’S RUNNING RECORD. SYDNEY, October 16. Competing in the Great Public Schools’ athletic meeting yesterday. Bruce Ryan, of St. Joseph’s College, equalled Jimmy Carlton’s 12-year-old record of lOsec in the open 100 yards championship. Earlier Ryan won the 220 yards in 22sec, which is a fifth of a second outside Carlton’s record. BOXING.
MINNEAPOLIS, October 14. Armstrong retained the world welterweight title by knocking out Howard Scott in the second round.
