DONOVAN V. CLARKE. I PER'PRESS ASSOCIATION. I WELLINGTON, May 15. Flying tackles were dominant in tonight's, wrestling match between. Jack Donovan and Jim Clarke. They drew with a fall each. Clarke, an adept in showmanship, set llie pace throughout. Donovan’s rugged matchcraft, enabled him to hold his own. Both spent, a considerable portion of the timet picking themselves up outside the ring. KIRCHMEYER V. BLOMFIELD. AUCKLAND, May 15. When Rollend Kirchmeyer surprised “Lofty” Blomfield with his favourite python clutch at a late stage of the professional heavyweight contest at. the Town flail to-night, and 1 gained a. submission fall, the New Zealander seemed in danger of suffering his second defeat of the season. However, Blomfield finished strongly over Hie last two rounds, amt forced a draw with a fall in' the eighth round with a forward toehold and. bar. Kirchmeyer, who created a fine impression in his earlier contest with Blomfield, in which ho lost on points, again gave a sparkling exhibition, and shaded the New Zealander for the greater part of the time, taking full advantage of his superior height and reach. The referee had. to caution frequently the- wrestlers for illegal holds and excessive use of the ropes.
