PRISONERS SENTENCED
LAD'S MANIA FOR WTRFLHSS. [per press association.] WELLINGTON, April 28. Prisoners were sentenced to-day. as follow by Judge Reed: — George Alfred James Bell. 15. Post Office Savings P>ank clerk, two charges of theft as a servant, of the Government, and five of forgery, two years' hard labour. Leslie George Jacobs. 33, painter, indecent assault charges, three years' hard labour. His Honor saying that prisoners had to he sent away for a lengthy period for Hie protection of young children. George I.assells Amies, 17. was i'<manded for sentence till Monday, on three charges of breaking, entering and theft. His Honor said he had fully intended to send the boy to Borstal, because he thought it. necessary for him to be disciplined, hut after hearing counsel, he would consider the matter further. Counsel had stated the proceeds had gone to enable the. boy to indulge in the hobby of radio making. He came from a good home and parents, and there had been no reason to suspect him of any tendency towards the crimes committed.
