WEDDINGS

BRYANT—KIRKBY. The wedding took place on Saturday, at St. Thomas’s Church, Runanga, of Jean, eldest daughter of* Mr. and Mrs. J. Kirkby (late of Cumberland) and Ronald, third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bryant, Carter’s Terrace, Ashburton. Rev. W. Osborne-Brown officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of ivory satinbacked cloque, finished with sinall buttons, from neck to hem. The V neck was edged with, tiny pleating and was finished with a spray of orange blossom. Misses I. and E. Kirkby attended their sister ns bridesmaids, wearing frocks of Buckingham lilac taffeta, made on slim-fitting lines and finished with Peter Pan collars and covered buttons from neck to waist. They wore lilac halos, finished with violets. Messrs R. and E. Bryant, were best man and groomsman, respectively. The leception was held at Owen’s tea, rooms, where the bride’s mother received the guests, wearing a rustcoloured ensemble. The bridegroom's mother wore a wine ensemble. Mr and Mrs R. Bryant left later for the North Island, the bride travellingin a navy jumper suit, with accessories to tone. They will reside at Ashburton. RAE—CAMERON. The wedding was solemnised at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, on Saturday evening, of Doris Antoinette Cameron, only daughter of the late Mr. 11. Cameron, of Christchurch, and Mrs. P. Hynes, Ahaura, to James Rae, eldest ton of Mr. and Mrs. John Rae, of Runanga. Rev. 11. R. Fell officiated, and Miss Coburn was organist.

The bride, who was escorted by her step-father, wore • a gown of cream satin, embossed with ivy leaves. It was cut on classical lines, the front panel forming a point into the bodice, which was shirred into the shoulder line. The sleeves were pleated into the shoulder and pointed over the hands. Tiny buttons finished the wrist. Her veil was of cut tulle, and fell from a. halo of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of cream chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern.

The bridesmaids were Misses Hilda and May line (sisters of the bridegroom), who wore frocks of green net over taffetta. The bodice formed a bolero, finished with pleating which also formed a medici collar. The circular skirts were finished with pleated rosettes with, green flowers in the centre. They wore latticed caps, the fronts, being finished vzith. flowers “and they carried shower bouquets of Japanese dahlias and fern. Mr. P. Rae was best man and. Mr. Ken Cameron was groomsman.

The reception was held at Owen s tea rooms, where Mrs. Hynes received the guests, wearing a. blackberry ensemble relieved vzith gold and a hat to tone. Her shoulder spray was of Japanese dahlias. The bridegroom s mother wore a black ensemble trimmed with cream and small black buttons, and accessories to tone. Her shoulder spray was of cream chrysanthemumus.

When Mr. and Mrs. James Rae left on their wedding tour, by car, the bride was wearing a black frock trimmed with cire satin and small buttons. A black coat trimmed with squirrel collar and felt hat to tone completed her outfit. They will reside in Christchurch. EAST—NEW LANDS. On Saturday afternoon, at St. John's Presbyterian Church, the wedding was solemnised of Alva Mary, only daughter of Mr. R. Newlands, Sydney, and formerly of Greymouth, and Percy Harold, third son of Mr. and Mrs. L. East, Cobden. The ceremony was performed by Rev. H. R. Fell, and Miss Mildred Coburn was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. D. McPherson, was attired in an ankle length frock of cream needlerun lace and satin. The frock was made on slim fitting lines, the skirt falling to a. graceful train at the back. The sleeves were shirred Io the elbow and fitted tightly to the wrists, forming a peak over the hands, 'fhe neckline was completed by a Peter Pan collar scalloped with georgette. Her tulle veil, appliqucd with satin flowers, was held by u coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a' bouquet of white and cream chrysanthemums. She was attended by Miss Zelda Peters, as bridesmaid, who was attired in an ankle length frock of blue figured satin, cut on simple lines, with short puff sleeves. The V neck Avas finished vzith pleated frilling. Her blue pleated hat was caught at the back with a spray of flowers. She wore silver shoes and carried a bouquet of pink norines and lilies. Mr D. East was best man.

The reception was held at. Harker’s, where the bride’s aunt, Mrs. W. Murray, assisted by Mrs. East, mother of the bridegroom, received the guests. Mrs Murray wore a navy model frock vzith gold trimmings, navy hat and accessories, and carried a bouquet of orange and gold, abutillons and chrysanthemums. Mrs. East, wore a model frock of wine elephant crepe vzith hat and shoes to tone, and carried a bouquet of nerines and lilies. Mr. and Mrs. East left later by rail' car for the North Island, the bride travelling in a navy pin stripe costume, navy hat and accessories. SMITH—HONEY. The wedding was solemnised at Wesley Methodist Church, Reefton, on Thursday morning by the Rev. C. Tanner, Vicar of St. Stephen’s Church, in the absence of the Rev. C. Dickins, of Charles, youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. A. Smith of Denniston, and Velma May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Honey of Reefton. The bride was given away by her father, and wore a navy and white check suit, with navy toque and shoes and stockings to tone. She carried a bouquet of autumn flowers. Miss Mona. Honey, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, wearing a fawn suit relieved with green, and red shoes to match. Mr. Gordon Honey, brother of the bride, was best man. Miss Rona Potter officiated at the organ. As the bride left the church, Beverley Robinson, a small cousin, handed her a silver horseshoe. Mr. and Mrs. Smith left by train on a short honeymoon. The bride wearing a pink frock with dove grey coat hat, and shoes.

RICHMOND—ARMORY At Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, on Saturday afternoon, the Avedding was solemnised of Lily Armory, daughter of the late Mr. J. H. Armory and' Mrs. Wafer, of Cobden, and Robert, son of Mr. and Mrs.

R. Richmond, Runanga. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn officiated. The bride was attended by Misses A. McDonald and M. Richmond. Mr. S. Armory was best man. and Mr. W. Richmond, Wellington, was groomsman. The reception was held at Herb. Moore’s. Mr. and Mrs. R. Richmond left by the rail-car, for Christchurch.
