STEELE DEFEATS RISKO. NEW YORK, February 20. Freadie Steele retained his title by winning a decision over Babe Risko in an unexciting 15 round bout before a small crowd at Madison Square Garden. The judges and referee came to a unanimous decision, giving Steele 11 rounds, and Risko four. The receipts were 15„686 dollars. Risko appeared extremely slow in comparison to his rival. Instead of employing the reckless abandon characteristic of him, Risko constantly retreated before Steele, and there were only infrequent flurries. Thus Steele was unquestionably the winner, since he did most of the fighting and all of the boxing. Steele's best round was the sixth, in which he hurled Risko to the ropes and rocked him with hooks to the face and body. This round, however was awarded to the challenger, because Steele delivered a low blow. Steele caught Risko off his balance in the fourteenth round and sent him to the canvas for a fraction of a second.
