About 34 members and friends assembled at the residence of Mr and Mrs Jack Walsh to mark the occasion of the inclusion of Mr. James Cowe in the New Zealand Soccer team, and to wish him good luck. Mr Frank White said it gave him great pleasure to preside. The guest was the first Scccer International the Coast had ever had. He presented Mr Cowe with a shaving outfit from his clubmates, and stated that had the time not been so short, a wallet that was also presented would have been ful instead oi empty. Messrs W. and 1 J. Timlin, on, behalf of the Marist Club, C. Hodgson on behalf of the W.F.A., and D. Barnes representing the referees, congratulated Mr Cowe and hoped he woudl be representing New Zealand in all three tests. Mr G. Pope led community singing.
