MINISTER’S LONDON VISIT
MR. NASH’S MISSION. [PER press association.] WELLINGTON, May 7. Important discussions shortly are to take place between representatives of the New Zealand Government and the British Government, in relation to trade agreements between the two countries. The Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, is to leave for England as soon as the major financial proposals at present before Parliament, and the other financial proposals still to be produced, have been dealt with. Mr. Nash’s object will be to discuss with the Home authorities the marketing of New Zealand produce in Britain. It is understood that Cabinet has already given consideration to the proposal that Mr. Nash should proceed to England at the earliest opportunity, and that the opinion has been ex--pressed that no better exponent of New Zealand’s requirements could be found than Mr. Nash. No limit will be placed upon the time Mr. Nash is to spend in England, but the major consideration in connection with his visit is that the “financial decks’* shall be cleared in New Zealand before he leaves for Home. A definite announcement that Mr. Savage is to visit England in connection with the Coronation celebrations, and also in connection with the proposed Imperial Conference, was obtained in official circles to-day. Mr. Savage is to leave New Zealand in March or in April next, and thus he will be in the position to bind New , Zealand to any arrangement arrived at in the meantime between the imperial authorities and Mr. Nash. It was learned to-day that Mr. Nash will visit England not only as Minister of Finance, but as Minister of Marketing. Thus tne speculation regarding the appointment of a Minister of Marketing has been set at rest. Mr. Nash will fill the position. It is unlikely that any other Minister will accompany Mr. Nash.
