ENGLAND’S LOST PRESTIGE
AUSTRIANS’ SOCCER WIN. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Received May 8, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 7. England is no longer able to claim Soccer pre-eminence, as yesterday, the Austrians defeated a strong English eleven, at Vienna, in the presence of sixty thousand, including Prince Starhemberg, and President Miklas. The Austrians were faster and more scientific than the visitors, from whom they received the first lessons forty years ago.
Hungary and Czecho-Slovakia defeated England last year.
