POULTRY PRODUCERS

GREY BRANCH MEETING. A meeting of the Greymouth Branch of the New Zealand Poultry Producers’ Federation was held, last evening, in the Lyceum Hall, Mr. J. A. Jackson presiding over a good attendance. The secretary reported that the membership had been swelled considerably of late, and that poultry-keepers in the district were exhibiting keener interest in the work of the Poultry Board.

The marketing of eggs was discussed at length, and it was decided to request the Poultry Board to push to its fullest extent the Federation’s proposals to bring before the women’s organisations of New Zealand, the many reasons why more eggs should bo consumed in the Dominion; stating that the Grey Branch considered that if eggs offered for consumption were of a guaranteed quality, the consumption could be considerably increased in New Zealand, even, perhaps, to the extent of doing away with the export of eggs. The secretary reported that he had visited Hokitika, last week, and had explained the working of the organisation to the southern branch, and added that it was hoped; in the near future, to form more branches, and a district council on the West Coast.

It was unanimously agreed that all members endeavour to promote the progress of the Federation, particularly in securing new members, whether registered or not, and in the formation of new* branches.
