WANTON ATTACK ALLEGED

GENEVA, December 20.

The Abyssinian Government, in a reply to the Italian Note regarding the Ualual incident, declares that documents of the International Commission contradict the Italian telegram and that not only Abyssinian, but Anglo-Abyssinian commanders jointly protested against a provocative Italian attitude and demonstrations on Abyssinian territory. An Italian

aeroplane flew over and threatened the Commission while the latter was protesting. The Italians signalled an attack, after a. r iconuaisance overnight by whistle orders. on which two aeroplanes dropping bombs, and a third and a. tank firing machine guns arrived on the scene, while Abyssinian machine guns were still covered, and 'not in their battle position, and officers and soldiers, except sentries, were within tents. It adds that the second-in-command of the Abyssinian escort was wounded.
