FOUND DEAD WELLINGTON, November 13. The body of Christina Scott, who has been missing since Tuesday night, was found wedged between large rocks under Karaka Bay wharf. There were no signs of violence.

SCOUTS’ RALLY. CHRISTCHURCH, November 11. Canterbury and Westland Scouts welcomed the Dominion Chief Scout, Lord Bledisloe, at a big rally at English Park this afternoon. Lady Bledisloe accompanied his Excellency. Over 1400 Scouts from all parts of the two provinces participated. MORTGAGE RELIEF. PALMERSTON N., November 11. The Wellington Mortgagors’ Relief Commission, which recently suspended sittings, owing to a difference with headquarters, relating to the . administration of relief, will resume its sittings at Pahiatua on Monday. Though no official light is shed on the cause of the interruption, it is understood that the points at issue will be amicably adjusted.

CAR CONVERTER IMPRISONED. AUCKLAND, November 13.

Ernest Herbert Smith, 26, bootmaker, who converted a car to his own use in Auckland, and obtained petrol for it at Te Kuiti by fraud, was sentenced, to-day, to four months’ imprisonment. The police said that Smith was observed in the missing car at Mangaweka, and a constable chased him. for sixty miles, before catching him.

HOME OF COMPASSION. WELLINGTON, November 11.

Standing as a permanent tribute to the work that was begun by the late Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, the new St. Joseph’s Home of Compassion, at Silverstream, was opened, this afternoon, by Archbishop Redwood in the presence of some hundreds of people.

The new building, which will accommodate between forty-five and fifty aged and infirm men, is adjacent to St. Patrick’s College.

LAUNCH ON FIRE. AUCKLAND, November 12.

The launch Kerry, when proceeding from Devonport to Rangitoto Island, with Aubrey Jackson (owner), two other men, and a little girl on board, caught fire off North Head at eleven o’clock last night. She was beached. The outbreak occurred when the engine backfired, and when efforts to quell the flames failed, it was decided to make for the shore, where the vessel was abandoned while burning furiously. Jackson received burns to his arms. The others were not injured.
