ROGILLA WINS FISHER PLATE

MELBOURNE, November 12. The weather yesterday was fine, and there was a good attendance, for the R C races. Blixten was prominent in the last seven furlongs, and finished brilliantly in the Batman Stakes. Blixten is trained by the New Zealander, George Price. This gave the rider, M. McCarten, his fourth win in this race. Cavalcade had a comfortable win in the Flemington Stakes. He formerly was raced by the New Zealander, Mr Kemball, and was purchased privately on Friday by Mr R- Saywell, of SydRogilla led in the last six furlongs and had a comfortable win in the C. B. Fisher Plate. He has had three wins in the last four startsOro led in the last five furlongs of the V.R.C. Handicap. The New Zealander, Greenhorn, finished fast. Regal Son disappointed its supporters. Rogilla ■ and Oro were bred by the latter’s owner, Mr Hunter White. Queen Helen, owned by the New ■Zealander, Mr W. B. Kemball, finished brilliantly in the Ottawa Stakes. This gave the ex-New Zealand rider, Maurice McCarten, his fourth win during the afternoon. McCarten’s riding of four winners in one afternoon at Flemington equals the feat of the late Tom Hales, who had four wins in one day in the March meeting of the year 1888. McCarten also secured a third on Kuvera, and a second on Turbine. Maltdale finished fast in the Final Handicap. The winner is a stablemate of Blixten. Its owner, Mr Brunton, won earlier in the meeting with Quarto and Mananna. The sectional times were: Batman Stakes—Last four furlongs, 48isec. Mr Rufe Naylor announced to-night that the opposition available at Pimlico to-morrow was not satisfactory, am:' therefore he had cancelled Winooka’s appearance there. Winooka will he taken to a Virginia, farm immediately for two months’ rest. Messrs Naylor, Polson and Britt proceed to Los Angeles, and sail for Australia aboard the Mariposa on Wednesday.
