WESTPORT, October 14.

A meeting of the combined Buller L.R.C’s was held at Westport to-day, to consider the selection of a successor to Mr H. E. Holland, as M.P. for Buller.

Interviewed, Hon. Mark Fagan, who represented the National Executive said that certain decisions had been reached, and these would be conveyed to the Executive, at Wellington. There was nothing to. bo made public in the meantime.

Sir, —In reference to the Buller byelection, the Grey Valley Miners have chosen Mr. Smeaton, Mayor of Brunner. He has no chance, owing to his activities in the ’9B strike. The only one that would have a chance against Mr. P. C. Webb, who is a possible candidate, would be Mr. P. J. McLean, of Greymouth. I am, etc.
