SOCCER FOOTBALL

W.F.A. MEETING. The weekly meeting of the W.F.A. was held' last evening, there being present Messrs E. Airey (chairman), E. Flood, AV. Robertson, J. B. Paton, F. M. Smyth, and the hon. secretaryair C. Restieaqx), and also Mr H. R. Barrett, the Westland Primary Schools Football Association’s delegate. The Auckland F.A. confirmed August 30 as the date of the Westland v. Auckland representative match at Victoria Park. It was left to the Secretary to arrange the transport of the Auckland team between Christchurch and Greymouth, and also to arrange for the accommodation of the team in Christchurch on Monday evening. Messis Robertson and Flood are to make accommodation arrangements in Greymouth. The N.Z.F.A. advised that it was unable to increase the grant towards the South Island Primary Schools’ tournament.

A number of booklets, “The Soccer Game in all Its Phases,” were received from the N.Z.F.A. Mr C. Restieaux, manager of the Westland team, reported satisfactorily on the visit of the team to Westport last Saturday. Mr F. M. Smyth was accorded a vote of thanks in connection with his running of the third grade five-a-side tournament last Saturday. Permission was granted Mr F. M. Smyth to take two teams selected from the Greymouth Technical High School and the Greymouth Marist High School to Dunedin and Christchurch to play friendly games. Mr Smyth was granted leave of absence for the next three meetings of the Management Committee of the Westland Football Association. Fixtures were arranged as follow: — Westland Cup.—Cobden v. Dobson, 3 p.m., at Cobden (referee, Mr W. Hillhouse). Runanga v. Greymouth, 2.30 p.m., at Victoria Park (referee, Mr D. Barnes). Juniors.— Runanga v. Taylorville, 1.30 p.m., at Cobden (referee, Mr J. J. Devine). Third Grade .—Combined Secondary Schools’ Reps. v. Third Grade Combined team, Victoria Park, 1 p.m. (referee, Mr A. R. Hamill). The teams will be: —

Secondary Schools: Lee (T); Dargan (M), Greenwood (T) ; Heaphy (M), Kerr (T), Baddeley (T) ; Ewan (T), Sharp (T), Vaughan (T) (capt), Paton (T), Pattinson (T).
