[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mr J. Davison returned, yesterday, from a holiday visit to Wellington. Mrs J. O’Connell, accompanied by Misses J. and D. O’Connell, have returned from a holiday visit to Christchurch. , , Mr I. Cairney, of Christchurch, who has been on a visit to Runanga and Greymouth, returned yesterday. Miss N. Syme leaves to-morrow on a visit to Christchurch. . . The local unemployed boot-repairing scheme commenced on Monday, and repairs are now being carried out. The sum of £7 odd has been expended on tools and material, and the Borough Council has granted the use of a shed at the back of the borough garage, where the work is being carried out. The committee extend' thanks for donations of trucks of coal from Messrs Boote and Party and Hunter and Party, also Mrs Oakley for handknitted pullover; Mr F. Key, for cups and saucers; and Mr I. Powell, wmper of the second prize in the competition, who donated the prize to the unemployed.
