AUCKLAND QUEEN CONTEST. (PEP. press ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, August 11. A Prosperity Week Campaign for the relief of unemployment distress, concluded to-night. Over £lO,OOO was raised. Miss Shirley Watkins, the Sports Candidate, won the Queen Contest, Miss Elizabeth Burgess Watson, the United Services candidate, came second. CHRISTCHURCH ORPHANAGES. ' CHRISTCHURCH, August 11. An appeal for the Anglican Presbyterian and Methodist Orphanages here has reached £1294 Is 3d, made up as follow:—-Street collections to-day, £727 12s 8d; radio concert, £554 18s 7d: cake stall, £ll 10s. Last year the sum of £l6OO was collected.
