HANK OSWALD DEFEATS CLARK. [PEB PEESS ASSOCIATION.] HASTINGS, August 9. A professional wrestling bout 'between Hank Oswald and Jack Clark to-night ended suddenly in the fifth round, Oswald securing a fall by a back loop slam. Clark was unable to continue. The contest provided plenty of action, both men being versatile, though the bout lacked anything of a spectacular nature. In the third round, Clark gained the first fall by a forward slam. The house was satisfied with tha bout. WALKER V. PATTERSON. CHRISTCHURCH, August 9. George Walker beat Jack Patterson with a dump and a body press in the sixth round of their bout at the St. James’ Theatre last night, but it took him two more rounds of hard and rugged wrestling to keep the advantage. Patterson, in spite of not being completely fit, gave Walker one of the hardest struggles of his career. Referee Jack Shaw had the bout under good control. PEREIRA—WALKER BOUT. ASHBURTON, August 10. Wrestling between Walker and Pe.reira, last night, ended sensationally in the sixth round, when Pereira, missing Walker with a flying tackle, went through the ropes on to the staging and on to the floor, several feet below, where he lay semi-conscious and took the count. Pereira got the first fall in the third round with a body scissors, following a series of flying tackles. Walker later slammed Pereira and got a fall from a body press in the fifth. Pereira was knocked out with a slam in the fourth round. The bout was fierce from start to finish. Walker was on the run several times, but he threw Pereira out of the ring five times.
