The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting was continued to-day. The weather was in good order and the totalisator investments amounted to £27,1201 (win £13,500, place £13,6201) as against £22,5381 on the second day last year. Concluding results: — Lincoln Handicap, 13 miles. —1-1 Indianapolis (Tomkinson) 1; 2-2 Silver de Oro (J. Fraser junr.) 2; 4-3 Ron (King) 3. Also started: 5-8 Grand Canyon, 10-10 Major Lind', 9-7 Ngingongingo, 8-8 Sodium, 3-4 Gold Tinge, 2-2 Belinda (bracketed with Silver de Oro), 6-6 Eureka Boy, 7-5 Muriel de Oro. Indianapolis led into the straight from Eureka Boy, Belinda, Grand Canyon, Ngingongingo and Ron. Indianapolis stayed on to win by half a length, with Ron two lengths away, and Eureka Boy fourth. Times: 2.42 2-5, 2.42 3-5, 2.42 4-5. Avon Handicap, 2 miles. —1-1 Nicoya (Berkett) 1; 5-7 Writer (King) 2; 2-2 Huon Voyage (Thomas) 3. Also started: 7-8 First Wrack, 10-10 Great Burton, 12-12 Ukulele Lady, 4-3 Worthy Queen, 8-5 Garner, 9-9 Gemlight, 6-6 Arctotis, 11-11 Mountain Mist,. 3-4 Todd Lonzia. Huon Voyage made up ground going down the back the last time to follow Nicoya, Garner, Firsa Wrack and Writer into the straight. Nicoya won by a length and a-half from Writer. Huon Voyage was half a length away, and First Wrack fourth. Times: 4.29 1-5, 4.28 2-5, 4.24 2-5.

Canterbury Handicap, 2 miles. — 11-11 Master Roy (Hooper) 1; 4-2 Tactless (Berry) 2; 13-13 Somerby (Alborn) 3. Also started: Gimmio, Bracken, 14-14 Dusolina, 9-7 Gay Gordon, 7-5 Jolly Wave, 10-8 Arabond, 6-9 Probationer, 12-12 Raydus, 3-4 Gunfire, 5-6 John Jinks, 1-3 Meteor, 2-1 Ron. Tactless went from last to first in two furlongs along the back, bu,t Master Roy led him into the straight from Jolly Wave and Somerby. Master Roy won by two lengths, with Somerby a length away. Jolly Wave was fourth. Times: 4.30 3-5, 4.28, 4.30 2-5. Speedway Handicap, 1% miles. —1-1 Glenrossie (Thomas) 1; 4-4 Free Advice (Tomkinson) 2; 7-7 Great Logan (F. Holmes) 3. Also started: 3-3 First Flight, 8-8 Harold Thorpe, 6-6 Logan’s Pride, 2-2 Royal Silk, 5-5 Harold Logan. Harold Thorpe took up the running from Royal Silk and Great Logan, and passing the stands the order was Harold Thorpe, Royal Silk, Great Logan, Glenrossie, Free Advice, First Flight, Logan’s Pride and Harold Logan. At the far turn Glenrossie shot to the front after Harold Thorpe and Royal Silk lost their positions and led into the straight well clear of Great Logan, First Flight and Free Advice. Glenrossie won by three lengths from Free Advice, with Great Logan two lengths away, and First Flight fourth. Times: 2.47 2-5, 2.47, 2.49 2-5.

At the Ascot races, results were:—-Three-year-old Handicap: Safari (NZ.) 9.1 (Stead) 1; Semak 7.9 (Parsons) 2; Bica 9.0 (Bartie) 3. Eight started. Won by a length; second half a -length away. Time 1.173. Safari’s owner, Mr W. Higgins, who arrived at the week-end by the Wanganella, witnessed the race. The Welter Mile was won by Prince Pombal, a former New Zealander, who hitherto has not won here. Results at Moonee Valley races were: — Bournfield Park Handicap: Good Hunting (N.Z.) 8.0 (A. Reed) 1; Kaotooa 8.12 (Shannon) 2; Flying Empress 7.6 (Skidmore) 3. Twelve started. Won by half a neck; three-quar-ters of a length. Time 1.16:]. This is Reed’s first ride since he was injured last May. , TEA TRADER RESUMES.

SEATTLE, August 8. Winooka arrived at Long Acre track from San Francisco on Tuesday night, accompanied by his stable-mate, Trevallion. Both are in splendid condition. The New Zealander, Tea Trader, is also present for the races during the week-end against the best sprinters. Tea Trader has been out of training for over two months, due to a bruised heel, but during the past three weeks responded to work in fine style. His trainer, Mr Morse, says he will be ready for a good race.
