CANTERBURY SHOW

PEOPLE’S DAY SUCCESS. [FEB PBXSS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, November 13. To-day was People’s Day at the Royal Show. The weather was fine, with a cloudy sky and a cool breeze, this being a pleasant relief from the heat of the previous days, and the crowds at the Show had an enjoyable day. On all hands the display of stock in the grand parade was commended. The Governor-General declared that the Show was one of which New Zealand had every reason to be proud. Hon. D. Jones, Minister of Agriculture, said tho exhibition of sheep and cattle was the best ever shown in New Zealand. The Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, was also present. The takings for the day were £1495, and the total for the Show £2129. Last year on People’s Day the takings were £2042, and the total for the two days £2489. In 1927 when the Royal Show was held here, the People’s Day takings were £2614, and the total £3302.
