REMEDY FOR CANCER
IMPORTANT EXPERIMENTS PROMISING RESULTS [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, May 8. Widespread interest is aroused in the experiments' being conducted in cancer cases at three London hospitals, with a serum discovered by Dr. Thompson, lecturer in Physiology, King’s College, London, and research worker for the Royal College of Sui°eons. ° Scientists and surgeons in close touch with the tests, emphasise that these are still in the experimental stage The patients under the treatment are being carefully observed, and although it is believed some benefit has resulted, it is too early to say what permanent value there is in the treatment, which consists of injecting a preparation made from the parathyroid gland, in order to remedy the deficiency in the components of blood, which Dr Thompson believes to be the cause of cancer. Sir Arthur Keith, Hunterian Professor of-the Royal College of Surgeons, stated that although the discovery had yielded results that are promising, it must not at present be regarded as more than marking an interesting stage in research work which must be continued.
